Ryan Garcia Calls Out Gervonta 'Tank' Davis

Honestly after watching the Garcia vs. Fortuna fight over the weekend, I was a little impressed, but not overly surprised at the result of the fight.

Garcia had won the vacant WBC Interim lightweight title in '21 against Luke Campbell by TKO, then earlier in April, won by unanimous decision considerably against a lesser fighter in Emmanuel Tagoe. Against Javier Fortuna on Saturday, who is a good fighter, but with the preparation, I felt that Garcia did what he was supposed to do.

The fact of the matter is that Garcia can talk the talk, he has walked the walk so far being 23-0, but this is the first time he is really starting to challenge himself by going up in weight to 140. After the fight he undoubtedly called out Tank Davis, and said 'if he wants to come to 140, then we can make it happen'. Knowing that Tank Davis is a man of little words, and a lot of action.

I believe this is going to set up the fight of the future between Garcia and Davis.

Davis is a kid who has been on the scene for a long time now, being mentored by the GOAT in Floyd Mayweather. The thing that gets me excited most about Tank Davis is that he has the power that Floyd never had, and Floyd has brought him under his wing to develop the signature 'shoulder roll' technique and counter punching that has proven to take people out even against the ropes... just ask Rolando Romero.

This fight has the potential to become something huge, which I haven't seen be huge since the hype of the McGregor Mayweather fight. What I am really looking for though, is that feeling of HBOs 24/7 when Mayweather first came onto the scene against De La Hoya. Bring the drama.
